Dayton IFMA

In mid-February IFMA International and IFMA Dayton sponsored two Competency Courses.  On February 10-11th the course entitled “Sustainable FM: A Practitioner’s Guide to Greening Your Facility” was held.  The “Operations and Maintenance Competency Course” course was conducted on February 12-13th.  Both courses were a great success!  Attendees participated from coast to coast.  There were also many “more local” people that considered the Dayton courses as a way to reduce travel costs while welcoming the educational opportunity.  There was even a non-IFMA member who decided to become a member based on things he learned there.

These classes were hosted in space graciously provided by Elements IV Interiors on Dayton’s north side.  “Thank you” Elements IV Interiors!  Russ Kunkel, IFMA Member and Facility Director of Elements IV Interiors, worked untiringly to be sure the event went well and according to plans.  The LEED Silver Renovated facility was a perfect fit for both courses.  Russ also conducted a facility tour for each class.  Thank you, Russ.  Ken Elrich arranged for the lunches, which were provided jointly each day by IFMA International and the Dayton Chapter.  Thank you, Ken.  We also want to thank the Dayton Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for their help in preparing a slideshow.

Finally, a warm “Thank you” is deserved by many of the IFMA International Education and Marketing staff in Houston.  These include Cathy Pavick, Director of Education, Ronna Winchester, Melissa Reyes, and Joshua Amos.  Kit Tuveson, CFM, IFMA Fellow, provided the insightful instruction and made both classes an educational success.

On behalf of the Dayton Chapter of IFMA and the Chapter Education Committee, once again, thanks to all who participated in making this a successful and educational event.  We look forward to future opportunities.
